La’Mont J. Baxter, the Executive Director of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of SOFA, has had a distinguished career marked by a deep commitment to service. His journey began as a United States Marine, where he honed his discipline and dedication to a cause greater than himself. Following an honorable discharge, he transitioned to the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department, where he excelled as a Homicide Detective, earning multiple commendations and promotions for his exemplary service.

During his time in law enforcement, La’Mont observed a disturbing trend: the prevalence of financial desperation as a catalyst for crime within his community. This realization ignited a passion within him to address the root cause of societal instability. It prompted him to pivot his career towards financial planning, where he pursued an impressive array of designations, including the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®), and Certified Exit Planner (CExP).

For the past 26 years, La’Mont has tirelessly dedicated himself to the financial services industry, leveraging his expertise to educate, coach, and advise civilian and government clients on sound economic strategies. His unwavering commitment to empowering individuals and businesses through financial literacy has transformed lives and fortified the fabric of his community.
